Kasmuel McOure Fights Back After Kenyans Brand Him Sell-out

Activist Kasmuel McOure on Sunday went on a wild tirade on social media as he sought to battle some of his critics who referred to him as a sell-out.

In a series of tweets, the singer-turned-activist slammed online users as he boldly refuted claims he had been ‘bought’ by someone in government.

Things took a turn for the worse for the self-styled revolutionist after he failed to address an attack on Morara Kebaso at the Bomas of Kenya on Friday, October 4. After Morara was booted from the hall, McOure was given the mic but steered clear of the incident that had transpired moments earlier involving his peer and fellow activist.

Because of his decision to embark on the politics of the day instead of condemning the goon attack on Morara, McOure earned criticism online, and things boiled over on Sunday when the activist decided to directly respond to those calling him out.

In one of his tweets, McOure refuted claims that he had collaborated with some people in government, urging anyone with proof to come forward.

“If I ever sell my integrity, I’ll be the first to make it known. If you have proof of the little I’ve received, table it,” he said. “I say this because you don’t support me for who I am, but because it’s inconvenient for who you’re against, therefore convenient for you.”

Responding to threats from online users about de-platforming him, McOure was adamant he would continue with his cause even if he lost his over 141,000 followers on X.

He went on, “Why would anyone threaten me with de-platforming? The real challenge is deplatforming me from your mothers’ hearts because they see beyond the nonsense and sensationalism you’re trying to advance.”

Part of the reason McOure is losing the trust of the masses was because he he stood side-by-side with Ruaraka MP TJ Kajwang during his address at the Bomas of Kenya.

McOure shot to the limelight in June 2024, at the height of the so-called Gen Z protests. Images and videos of the activist amid Kenyans protesting against bad governance and the Finance bill earned him a lot of traction online, and he followed his new-found fame with a declaration to undertake civic education to enlighten the average Kenyan on the essence of good governance.

Similarly, Morara Kebaso also earned plaudits online in recent months after taking it upon himself to follow up on stalled government projects across the country.

Both McOure and Morara are fierce critics of the Kenya Kwanza regime, although their approaches differ considerably. Morara is determined to make a change by infiltrating the Kenyan political scene, and recently launched his own party dubbed ‘Inject’.
