Morara Kebaso Issues Demand to IG Douglas Kanja After Bomas Saga

Lawyer turned activist Morara Kebaso has called out police IG Douglas Kanja and the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Mohamed Amin to arrest goons who attacked him at Bomas of Kenya on Friday.

In a press briefing at his home in Nairobi flanked by his family members, the spokesperson of the family asked Kanja to arraign the perpetrators with immediate effect.

“The IG and your team, where are those people who attacked Kebaso before the media? Can we see them being arraigned in court? That is our request,” the family spokesperson stated while a frail Kebaso looked on.

“We are here to condemn what happened at the Bomas of Kenya when the young man Morara was attacked.”

Kebaso was attacked on Friday while at the Bomas of Kenya to participate in what was to be a public exercise over the impeachment of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

He was blocked from accessing the venue but later allowed in with his security guaranteed. Hell broke loose when he took to the stage to give his opinions.

Goons, who are believed to have been paid, threw chairs and roughed up the activist as he was exiting the venue. Morara sustained injuries on his body.

The family reminded the perpetrators that Kebaso has a family and needs to be respected and protected like any citizen of Kenya.

“Kebaso has a family where he is coming from, he has a region where he comes from,” added the spokesperson.

The family lamented noting that the violence meted out on Morara was orchestrated by some members of Parliament who had initially blocked him from accessing the venue before attacking him.

“People could hear members of Parliament, fathers of children probably senior to Morara shouting and telling the crowd and their goons to attack Morara,” he added.

The kin noted Kenya is a peaceful country and the violence leashed on Morara was unfortunate and should be condemned.

The family noted it will leave the matter to God to avenge for them. “Those who attacked Morara Kebaso at Bomas, his blood is calling out. God will revenge on our behalf.”
