Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have expanded their investigations into the killing of taxi driver, Victoria Mumbua Muloki, to include a possible serial killer case.
Mumbua, who went missing more than a week ago, was discovered at City Mortuary in Nairobi on Thursday, October 3.
The investigation into the case narrowed down to Edwin Ng’etich, a suspect arrested a few days after the taxi driver went missing after accepting a ride from a passenger leaving Mombasa and destined for Samburu.
The suspect was arrested on Sunday last week while in possession of the vehicle belonging to the deceased taxi driver.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the suspect was behind the murder of another taxi driver whose car was stolen in July and whose body was found dumped in Nakuru.
The detectives indicated that Ngetich had contracted the deceased for a car hire business from Kisii to Nairobi.
The officers indicated that they believed that the suspected abducted the deceased after arriving in Nairobi and murdered him before dumping his body in Gilgil, Nakuru County.
He later stole and sold the motor vehicle to an unsuspecting buyer. The vehicle was recovered as part of the investigations.
Another car was discovered dumped in a forest and a third victim, who was later traced, confirmed that he was abducted by unknown men in February 2021 at Karen, Nairobi. He told detectives that he was assaulted and later abandoned at Olenguruone in Nakuru County.
Ngetich was on Sunday last week apprehended by police and taken in for interrogation as investigations on the matter continued.
At the time, Mumbua’s colleagues confirmed that the lady received a business offer from some people who approached her to take them to Samburu from Diani.
Part of the deal was that upon arrival in Samburu, they would still use her service when returning to Diani as well as use her car while in her company as their driver.
The unpromising journey set off on September 25, 2024.
