NRG Radio Presenter Quits After 5 Years

Renowned radio presenter Natalie Githinji has left NRG Radio after a five-year stint with the urban radio station.

The talented radio presenter made her departure announcement on her social media on the evening of Saturday, October 5, becoming the latest big-name to leave the station in months.

In her statement, Githinji noted that her reason for leaving the station was to pursue other opportunities and seek fresh challenges.

“I am deeply grateful for the support of the talented team I had the pleasure of working alongside and I take immense pride in what we have achieved together,” she stated adding, “My departure marks the close of a significant chapter for me and the company but I am excited about the paths that lie ahead.”

Githinji, who doubles up as a content creator, hosted a hype morning show at NRG radio, pulling mainly young audiences with her witty humor.

Besides radio, Githinji, who boasts of over 640,000 followers on Instagram, also prides herself in being an actress, a red-carpet host, and an endometriosis warrior.

With Githinji’s exit, NRG Radio has lost nearly every popular presenter who joined the station in its infancy stages in the Kenyan market.

In May 2024, Shaquille O’Neill Oduk, better known as ShaqtheYungin, left the station after six years saying, “Hardest choice that I’ve been thinking of making for a minute but yeah, I’m gonna miss you all on this side! God bless all who were part of the journey.”

Shaq’s departure came roughly two months after two major presenters Mwalimu Rachel and DJ Xclusive bid the Westlands-based station goodbye.

The duo quit in March after serving at the station for six years. The two hosted a similar show. Mwalimu Rachel left NRG and landed a new role with the Radio Africa Group where she was joined by DJ Xclusive.

Six months prior, NRG lost the powerful voice of Azeezah Hashim, who left the station after two years to join Royal Media-affiliated Hot96 FM.

The station was launched in Kenya in March 2018 and within months, it became a top visual-radio FM station, providing online audio and video streaming.
