DCI Surprises 100 Families During Impromptu Visit

Officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations recently delighted families after donating foodstuff to more than 100 families in a commendable humanitarian effort in Embu County.

Apart from nabbing dangerous criminals, the DCI officers showed their humane side by engaging with residents from the neighborhood of Dallas and Moi Stadium as part of their corporate social responsibility.

Photos seen by Kenyans.co.ke showed the officers all smiles with the residents, who received items that included maize flour.

The officers also visited children attending their religious classes at Al-Madrasatu Shamsiyyah Madrassa and made similar donations.

According to the security agency, the donations were part of a larger effort by the DCI to foster a good relationship with members of the public and ‘enhance the DCI’s human face’.

“The visit is one of the many humanitarian exercises the Directorate has made to foster good relationships with the people we serve,” the DCI stated.

This is not the first time, the DCI is giving back to society, in Nyeri. Former DCI boss George Kinoti was particularly fond of making donations in different forms-  from hospitals to children’s homes.

While donating to Naari Level 4 Hospital in Meru in 2021, Kinoti emphasised the need for government agencies to give back to society.

In terms of conducting their mandate, it appears the DCI is also overperforming in that department as the agency was recently ranked as the top investigative agency in Africa, according to a survey.

The survey took into account various agencies based on their effectiveness in tackling criminal cases, their operational capabilities, and their adoption of innovative investigative methods.

“In 2024, Africa’s criminal investigative agencies are not just fighting crime—they’re adapting to new challenges,” the report noted.

“From tackling cybercrime to neutralizing terrorist threats, these agencies have become increasingly sophisticated, utilizing technology and global partnerships to stay ahead. While each agency has its unique strengths, they all share a common mission: to protect their countries and ensure justice is served.”
