A Nairobi Auctioneer, on Friday, issued owners with a notice to pick their cars or risk losing them via auction.
In a Gazette Notice dated Friday, October 4, the auctioneers announced that the cars were left for repairs/modifications at the company’s premises
“Their owners and/or depositors are required to take delivery and pay the outstanding amounts listed against each within 30 days from the date of publication of this notice,” read part of the notice.
The notice cautioned owners of failure to settle their outstanding debts in the stipulated period which will lead to the vehicles being auctioned.

“Failure to which the same shall be sold or otherwise disposed of under the provisions of the Disposal of Uncollected Goods Act,” added the notice.
Under the Uncollected Goods Act, (Cap. 38) laws of Kenya, a company or a business is allowed to dispose off goods after issuing a notice 30 days before selling the goods.
The goods are held at a godown/warehouse situated at Shimanzi off Mwinyi Mpate Road in Mombasa, Kenya, where the auction will take place.
The cars are set to be auctioned from as low as Ksh380,000 with the highest price being Ksh1.3 million for high-end vehicles.
The 15 cars include brands like various Toyota models, BMW, Mitsubishi Lancer, Subaru Impreza, and Pick Ford.
Separately, Githurai Mwiki Police Station is set to auction 11 motorcycles and one vehicle that have been lying idle at the station.
“Owners/custodian of the vehicles are informed to collect them and pay the cost of this notice failure to which M/s Niki Auctioneers is hereby authorized to sell them through public auction without any other notice nor reference to the owner,” read the notice.
The law gives the company the power to auction goods that have stayed for 30 days and whose owners have failed to pick them up.
