Ex-MP Rejects Ruto’s Job 3 Days After Appointment

Former Machakos Member of Parliament Victor Munyaka on Sunday rejected President William Ruto’s appointment as the chairperson of the Kenya Animal Genetic Resource Centre.

According to the former lawmaker, he only learnt of the appointment via the Gazette notice published on Friday, October 3, 2024.

‘’I have learnt of my appointment by His Excellency, President William Ruto as the chairman of the Kenya Animal Genetic Resource Centre through a Kenya Gazette notice dated 3rd October, 2024,’’ he shared.

The former lawmaker intimated that he rejected the appointment following the current political tension rocking the country.

He added that it was from the tense political situations that he was informed that the government could not realise its economic transformation agenda noting that for that reason, he was rejecting the appointment.

‘’However, after soul-searching, extensive consultations, and in consideration of the current political climate that threatens the realisation of the government’s economic transformation agenda, I have made the difficult decision to respectfully decline this appointment,’’ he added.

Munyaka, however, thanked the President for the consideration of the opportunity to serve as the chairperson of the Kenya Animal Genetic Resource Centre.

‘’I thank the Head of State for offering me the opportunity to serve Kenyans in such a capacity. Thank you again for considering me for this position. I wish you and your administration success in leading our country,’’ Munyaka stated.

Munyaka, who had initially been appointed the Chief Administrative Secretary in the Ministry of Lands before the Court declared the position unlawful, recently revealed that he was not happy with the tense political tensions between Ruto and his Deputy Rigathi Gachagua.

“What the Kenya Kwanza administration principals are doing is devastating, especially to those of us in the Kenya Kwanza family. The President and his deputy should strive to get their house in order,” he stated.

The former lawmaker’s appointment had been viewed as an answered prayer from the President after he recently came out to lash at Ruto over the sidelining of the Ukambani region in state appointments on September 14 this year.

”For the sake of those who stood with the president, he should rethink his relationship with Ukambani. Although my remarks may be interpreted as rebellion, I must tell the president the facts as they are. We need services and employment of our people,” he added.

Munyaka was a key political point man in President Ruto’s campaign especially within the Ukambani region as he was extensively involved in voter mobilization for him.
