Cambridge Cancels Exam Results for Light International School Students, School Launches Appeal
Nairobi, August 18, 2024—In an unexpected turn of events, examination results for all students who sat their IGCSE, AS, and A Level examinations at Light International School in Nairobi have been canceled. This decision was communicated to the school by Cambridge Assessment International Education, leaving students and parents in shock.
In response, Light International School has informed parents that it has launched an appeal against the cancellation. However, the school has also advised parents to prepare for the possibility that affected students may need to retake their exams during the October-November 2024 examination series.
“We have initiated the appeal process and engaged two legal teams, one in Kenya and the other in the United Kingdom. The formal appeal was lodged on August 9, 2024, and we anticipate a response from Cambridge within 28 days from that date,” the school stated in a communication to parents.
Recognizing the potential length of the appeal process, the school has taken proactive measures to ensure students are not disadvantaged. “Given the expected duration of the appeal process, we believe it is in the best interest of the students to arrange for retakes of the examinations,” the school added.
To support the students during this challenging time, Light International School has committed to covering all costs associated with exam registration and preparation. The school will also provide a free exam center and revision program for those retaking the exams.
The Nairobi Academy has been identified as the designated location where the students can sit for their exams in October-November 2024 while the appeal process continues.
Light International School emphasized its commitment to supporting its students, stating, “The school has decided to cover all the full costs of exam registration and preparation for all students retaking the exams.”
