Dormitory at Yet Another School Goes Up in Flames in Early Morning Fire

Even as authorities continue to investigate the cause behind the recent surge in fire incidents across schools in the country, another fire broke out at Father Makewa Boys High School in Machakos County on Tuesday morning gutting down a dormitory at the learning institution.

According to reports, the fire broke out at around 6 am while the students were attending their early morning lessons.

A preacher with a residence next to the school who spoke to the press confirmed that no students were injured since all of them were at their respective classes.

Firefighters from the Machakos County Government were immediately dispatched to the scene and jointly helped put out the fire before it could spread to other areas.

While commenting on the matter, Yatta Member of Parliament Robert Ngui expressed regret over the incident and assured the school of his support.

“I extend my heartfelt sympathies to the Fr. Makewa Secondary School community in Makutano, Ikombe Ward, following the devastating fire that destroyed the boys’ dormitory,” Ngui commented.

“I fully understand the emotional toll and disruption this has caused for students, parents, and staff. This is a challenging time, and I stand with you, offering my unwavering support.”

The lawmaker went ahead to call on students to come out and share their grievances with the school administrator to avert such occurrences.

The fire tragedy at Makewa school adds up to a series of fire incidents reported at different schools across the country in the last one week.

Father Makewa fire incident comes hours after another similar occurrence was reported at Yemit Boys High School in Elgeyo Marawet.
