Videos of former Nation Media Group journalist Nasibo Kabale languishing in the streets have sparked outrage among Kenyans.
The footage which has since circulated widely on the internet, has triggered a string of questions among Kenyans who sought to know how the vocal news reporter found herself in the streets.
The Health reporter came into the limelight in 2020 following her detailed and insightful coverage of the Coronavirus disease.
Raggedly dressed, barefoot with unkempt hair, the video depicts Nasibo holding a knife as she narrated her ordeal as a journalist before resorting to living in the murky street corridors.

During the interview, the journalist explained that she uses the knife to protect herself against any potential threats while sleeping inside her ramshackle.
“Here you must sleep with a knife beside you because anyone can come at night and attack you,” Nasibo narrated.
While narrating her situation, Nasibo disclosed that she was diagnosed with depression while working as a health reporter at Nation Media Group.
While narrating her plight, she revealed that at one point, she contemplated quitting her job and even taking her life after she noted that her health was deteriorating.
She was later admitted to the Chiromo Hospital where she underwent a series of treatments. She would then resign to fate after feeling that her situation was not improving.
“It happened that the company dismissed people from the office but fortunately I was among the five that were retained but the job became challenging after I began witnessing people dying. It disturbed me,” Nasibo narrated.
Nasibo Kabale revealed that her expertise in journalism landed her several opportunities including working for the Nation Media Group and the Standard Media Group. She was categorical that she never struggled to land a job.
“I never applied for a job, the employers just admired my effort and granted me chances at their companies. I left Nation Media because of depression but as for Standard Group, I quit because of a meagre pay,” the journalist revealed.
She claimed that the devastating life she has to live makes her want to disconnect from reality from time to time. Her survival mainly depends on begging.
Every cloud has a silver lining, despite her current condition, Nasibo claimed she still could read and write and if given the opportunity once again, she would execute the duties to her level best.
