Govt Shuts Down Quiver Lounge in Kilimani After Uproar

Residents of Kilimani can now sigh with relief after Nairobi City County officials shut down Quiver Steak House in Kilimani on Sunday over noise pollution.

Earlier, the residents complained of enduring sleepless nights on account of loud music from the joint which they argued violated their rights.

Following an uproar from residents, the county officials led by Chief Officer of Environment Geoffrey Mosiria took the initiative to halt the operations of the club.

It is alleged that the management of Quiver repeatedly ignored concerns from the residents who urged the club to lower their loud voices.

A notice was served to Quiver to soundproof the club but it was unheeded, which fuelled pressure from residents to have the steak house closed.

During the closure, Mosiria noted that the county would not keep calm while several people were denied their right to sleep peacefully by a single business.

Inside sources privy to the matter claimed that the order to close the club was issued by President William Ruto before he left for Nyeri on Sunday morning.

The popular entertainment joint neighbours the Department of Defence (DOD), the State House and a host of residential buildings.

“We have closed down the establishment because they ignored multiple notices and complaints from neighbours,” Mosiria confirmed.

“This behaviour is illegal and we are now enforcing action against those who have failed to address our soundproofing requests.”

The Chief Officer of Environment affirmed that Nairobi City County will not allow continuous environmental pollution and disturbances to residents of the city.

It was reported that the closure was peaceful as the management and clients complied with the order. Revelers were seen leaving the joint in askance.
