The cause of the accident was yet to be established at the time of publishing this story even as investigations kicked off.

Photos of the crash site shared across social media platforms showed a small plane lying in an upside-down position in the tall grass of Nairobi National Park.

It is not the first time that a similar accident has been witnessed in Kenya. In an analogous situation in March this year, a student pilot and instructor died when their aircraft collided with a passenger plane carrying 44 people.

The two airplanes had collided within Nairobi Airspace with one of the aircraft crash-landing inside the Nairobi National Park.

While confirming the report, KCAA revealed that the passenger plane which was bound for Diani in Mombasa, had just taken off when it experienced a loud bang.

It was during its journey to the coastal hotel that the passenger plane collided with the aircraft ferrying the two individuals.

“Kenya Civil Aviation Authority wishes to confirm that an aircraft accident occurred at 10:05hrs involving a Cessna aircraft belonging to Ninety-Nines Flying School and a Dash 8 belonging to Safarilink Aviation Limited,” the Authority stated.

“Investigations have commenced through various agencies led by the Air Accident Investigation Department (AAID) and the National Police Service to establish the cause of the accident.”
