REVEALED: 2 ODM MPs Set to Table Gachagua’s Impeachment & When

Controversial United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party Secretary General Cleophas Malala named two ODM members of Parliament as the people believed to be spearheading calls to impeach Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

While speaking at a church service at PEFA Church at Thika Town in Kiambu County on Sunday, September 22, the outspoken lawmaker named Suna East MP Junet Mohamed and Homabay Town MP Peter Kaluma as the masterminds behind the plot to impeach the Deputy President.

Malala warned Ruto that turning against his deputy would lead to his ouster in the long run.

“I have been informed that the MPs being fronted to table the impeachment motion against Gachagua are Junet Mohamed and Peter Kaluma. I’m telling you, Mr. President, those MPs will start by impeaching Gachagua, then they will turn against you in 2027,” Malala stated.

Githunguri Member of Parliament Gathoni Wamuchomba echoed Malala’s sentiments as she sensationally claimed that plans to impeach Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua were in full swing.

Wamuchomba, a fierce defender of Gachagua, faulted leaders who were hell-bent on seeing the Deputy President’s downfall.

“There are some elements that wake up every day with a plot on how to ensure you don’t succeed,” she lamented.

She added, “Those are the same people who have come together with leaders from ODM to bring a motion to impeach Rigathi Gachagua next week.”

In a fierce rant that brought the church to a standstill, Wamuchomba urged President William Ruto to back his deputy as she recalled the gruelling campaigns Gachagua endured with the Head of State in the run-up to the 2022 Presidential elections.

“Mr President I want you to remember the pain we went through looking for that seat (Presidency). Now we want to chase away the deputy president. Here in Mount Kenya when we show faith in our leaders, but we hate betrayal,”.

Wamuchomba claimed the same people eager to impeach Gachagua were the same people who opposed the Kenya Kwanza regime.

The clearest sign that all was not well between Ruto and Gachagua came on Friday, when the latter went on TV to explain his strained relationship with the President.

In the tell-all interview, the deputy president explained his absence from state functions, saying he was frozen out by Ruto’s allies.
Gachagua further said he felt silly for fiercely going against Raila Odinga in 2022, only for the ODM party leader to make peace with President Ruto.
